The Weekend Strikes Back...

First up, the good part  :)

I received my model from Freebooter for Sean's campaign last week, along with Kara Sloans right arm (Warmachine Warcaster), and grafted the two together during D&D last week. Its a bit rough but once painted, no-one will know the difference hopefully. With a bit of luck I'll get started on her this week. She is going to look a little "pirate-ish" for a wild west inspired campaign, but that's beside the point.

The bad side of course was that I managed to aggravate an old issue with my back muscles (who would have known there were some...) after painting on Sunday. So managed to get nothing done in the evening and spent all of today slowly moving around the house as doing anything except lying face down resulted in pain... Needless to say I am keen to see the back of last weekend  :)

A Big Weekend...

Well, the weekend turned out to be a bit of a bust for many reasons, however I did advance 3 projects this week so I guess that's better than my PB (pre blog) performance  :)

First up... Dystopian Wars Prussian Fleet:

I managed to get these undercoated and magic washed a week or so ago. The rest of the guys in the office have had concerns about how easily paint was coming off the resin, so after a quick round table discussion I volunteered to try the undercoat and magic wash approach to try and seal in the undercoat and minimise any chipping. Today I finished masking off the diagonal white and black lines I am putting on the hull of the battleship and cruisers, airbrushed the dark grey, and then masked off the hull (so to not cover the dark grey). Later this week I'll hit the superstructures and decks with a medium grey.

I need to ask Mike what colour he painted his decks as I really liked the result, but I am hopeful that within a few weeks I'll have these finished.

Tomorrow I'll have some photos of Tabitha Jones v2.0 now that she is converted and ready for Sean's D&D campaign.

A Big Weekend?

Had many plans of getting stuff done this weekend... had being the operative term... but it looks like some unforeseen issues have thrown a spanner in the works. Oh well, maybe tomorrow if I am lucky.

On the good side, I was sent this rather funny cartoon by a friend... I want one!

Rankings HQ

Some of my old gaming buddies in Aus started Rankings HQ a number of years ago as a site to managing the rankings of Warhammer and 40K players. Its now grown into a fantastic hobby site with something for everyone. They have recently enlisted Jason Flanzer (of the old Iron Agenda Podcast) to provide regular Warmachine content - check it out, its well worth a watch!

Kara Sloan and her Hunters

I've wanted to put together my Kara list ever since I picked up the copy of the Cygnar book and for some time the figures have been sitting in a box, slowly coming together. After a final assembly session earlier this week, everything is now put together and ready for some paint (tomorrows job). In the meantime may I present Kara Sloan and her Hunters!

Modified Kara with her rifle now in use

Kneeling (this one is a little hard to see without the base)

I think I am in LOVE!

And more importantly a great new Khador Caster that not only looks good, but has a tier list of all the cool things I already like to play...  :)

Warmachine at Guardcon

The Guardcon guys are running a Battlebox tourney this year, so after the fun of Nicon... and in an attempt to avoid 8th Ed WHFB... I might have to paint up some new figures (like I needed an excuse to buy something!)

Swamp Gobbers!

This weekend I was fortunate enough to play in one of the most enjoyable wargaming tournaments I can remember in a long time. Sean, Victor and I teamed up for the Warmachine Teams event at Nicon in Hamilton. We went into the event with the right spirit - turning up and having fun was more important that any other consideration. This was of course lucky as we only managed to get 2 wins out of a total of 18 games... :) Off the field it was also a great event with Skeeter lining us up with a great motel that came with a large lounge, a large TV and comfy couches for post match relaxation...

For our troubles we actually managed to bring home some silverware (which was entirely unexpected) pulling off the coveted Swap Gobbler Award (Wooden Spoon) and the Exemplars Award (awarded to best all round Team who display Page 5 qualities).
As for Karchev... he is going to take a little retirement break (along with Sean and Victors casters) whilst we try and wrangle a few of the guys at work into playing some games. I'm currently debating eVlad or perhaps Kara or Kraye with my "Hunter-rama" list.
